Matt Edwards is an assistant leader at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in the Transportation Safety and Resilience Group. His research interests include control and estimation, optimization, and the modeling and assessment of complex aerospace systems. At Lincoln Laboratory, his work spans the assessment and technology development of collision avoidance systems for manned and unmanned aircraft. Recently, he has contributed to the system design and performance assessment for several airborne sense and avoid programs, including BAMS, Global Hawk, and the Predator B, and current Army and Air Force ground-based sense and avoid efforts. He supports several standards development bodies including the FAA sponsored UAS Sense and Avoid Workshop and the NATO Flight in Non-Segregated Airspace Working Group.
